People are invited to find out more about a proposed shake-up of hospital services in Calderdale and Huddersfield at the meeting at North Bridge Leisure Centre in Halifax from 6pm-8pm.

NHS bosses want to make Calderdale Royal Hospital the main A&E site for the two towns under plans to tackle a £280m funding gap.

Huddersfield’s existing infirmary could be knocked down and replaced with a smaller hospital designed to carry out planned NHS treatments.

Both towns would have urgent care centres treating minor ailments - but more serious emergencies would be taken to a beefed-up A&E in Halifax.

People will have the chance to put questions to Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) at tonight’s meeting, and at a meeting at the same time on Monday, April 18, at Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium.

Dr Alan Brook, chairman of Calderdale CCG, said: “The consultation process is a chance for us to discuss how we meet national standards and deliver safe high quality services in our hospitals and in the community for years to come.

“We are listening to people, and want to know if there are other ideas that the CCGs have not considered.”

Questions can be submitted in advance of tonight’s meeting by e-mail to [email protected] or by calling 01484 464212. Contact details should be included.

Copies of the CCGs’ consultation document are available online at www.rightcaretimeplace.co.uk or by calling 01484 464212 or texting 07771 334724.

People have until June 21 to make their views known on the proposals.
