THE Mytholmroyd Marmaladies have got a packed programme of events lined up for the summer holidays and hope lots of people will join in the fun.

It gets underway on Thursday, August 2, with a sports day at Scout Road Park, Mytholmroyd, from 10am. Free entry, and those attending are asked to bring a picnic lunch. Dogs are welcome too.

The Marmaladies have borrowed equipment from Calder High School for the event, which is open to children of all ages.

Alison Ackroyd, from the Marmaladies, said: “It’s not a competitive thing, it’s a chance to have some fun in a friendly atmosphere.”

Another sports day will be held at the park on August 23, also at 10am.

The group is hosting a wine and cheese evening at St Michael’s Church Hall, Mytholmroyd, on Tuesday, August 7, at 7.30pm.

Eight different wines will be available to taste and compare, plus there will be a fun quiz, bottle raffle and cake stall.

Admission is £3 for the tasting, which includes tea and coffee in the break (or extra wine for a nominal contribution).

All ladies are welcome, as long as they are over 18.

On August 9 the Marmaladies are planning a trip to Ponderosa with their children - called the Marmites.

A buggy walk will take place on August 16, in association with Mytholmroyd Walkers Action. It will be a stroll around the area up to the nature reserve at Cragg Vale.

A second walk will be held on August 30. Meet at Mytholmroyd Railway Station’s Manchester platform at 10am.
