Potty exhibition as groups join forces

Ceramic students from Northlight Art Studios are set to go potty with their latest exhibition.

The students from the Hebden bridge studios have linked up with five potters and ceramic artists from the recently re-opened Brier Hey Pottery in Mytholmroyd to present All Fire Up at the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival Shop this weekend.

The exhibition will showcase the work of over twenty makers with a varied collection of work ranging from intricate ceramic jewellery to large scale sculptural pieces. Works reflect a wide range of materials, techniques and processes including throwing, slip casting, coiling, slab building and raku firing.

A studio spokesperson said: “The show combines two exiting developments during the past 12 months – the addition of popular weekly ceramic classes to Northlight’s Backdoor Arts Education Programme and the re-opening of Brier Hey Pottery in Mytholmroyd, following the untimely death of potter David White in October 2011.”

All Fired Up will be open on Saturday May 19 and 26, and Sunday, May 20 and 27, from 10.30am to 5.30pm at the Arts Festival Shop on Albert Street.
