The church community in Todmorden recently entertained a visitor from the town’s twin parish in Tanzania.
The Rev John Msuma spent ten days in Todmorden and packed plenty of activities into his visit, which included attending the ordination of Rev Gill Page.
Rev John is the Vicar of Nyabitocho, a village in Tanzania linked to the Parish of Todmorden.
He stayed with members of the congregation at St Mary’s and saw plenty of the town.
Rev John attended services at St Mary’s, including the visit by the Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt Rev Stephen Platten, for Rev Page’s ordination.
He went on visits to Hollingworth Lake at Littleborough, Towneley Hall at Burnley and took part in a Todmorden tradition - queuing for fish and chips at Grandma Pollard’s, Rochdale Road, Walsden.
He also visited Todmorden C. of E. Primary School, Roomfield Baptist Church and the Drop In Centre at St Mary’s, stood the charity stall on Todmorden Market on the Thursday of his visit and joined the St Mary’s Walking Group for a visit to the Top Brink Inn at Lumbutts.
Rev John was delighted at the warm welcome he received from the people of Todmorden.
