A SPECIAL Constable has been praised for his “exceptional service and outstanding commitment”.

Anthony Sutcliffe received the Divisional Commander’s Commendation at a ceremony in Halifax in recognition of the 1,128 hours he has worked in Halifax town centre and Todmorden.

The 20-year-old said: “I was very pleased. I’m quite grateful really.”

Anthony, of Greetland, also received the award for apprehending two burglary suspects while he was off-duty.

He spends about 20 hours a week in his Special Constable role.

“I enjoy going out and helping the community and making people feel safe,” he said.
