BLOOD donation sessions will be held at Todmorden Cricket Club next week as NHS Blood and Transport aims to keep its stocks at a healthy level.
As a result of the severe cold weather this winter, many sessions were cancelled due to the snow and ice over Christmas and into the New Year, which meant there was a dip in blood collections.
Thanks to the generosity of donors over the festive period, there was enough blood to meet hospital demands but NHS Blood and Transplant is urging donors to help save and improve the lives of those in desperate need of blood.
Barbara Blanche, from NHS Blood and Transplant, said; “Blood stocks were affected over December and January and we want to get levels back to normal as quickly as possible.
“We thank all donors for their continuing generosity and appeal to those who have ever thought about becoming a donor.
“There’s no better time than now.”
Sessions will be held at the cricket club, on Burnley Road, on Thursday February 24 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm and from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.
Guidelines state that donors should be aged between 17 and 65, generally in good health and weigh more than 7st 12lbs,
