Brave swimmers take to icy waters during annual New Year Swim in Todmorden

Brave swimmers took to the icy waters of Lee Dam, Lumbutts, near Todmorden yesterday (Sunday) for the annual New Year swim.

The annual event attracted lots of courageous swimmers to tackle the challenge.
Girls winner was Natalia Beale
Mens winner was Jamie Beale
Ladies winner was Sonya Moorhead
The event, organised by Todmorden Amateur Swimming Club with support from Todmorden Lions and The Top Brink Inn, was a fantastic success.
Boys winner was Noah Beale
The event has been a staple in the Calder Valley calendar for many years.
Some swimmers even wore fancy dress as they took on the challenge
After taking the plunge, swimmers were rewarded with hot soup and a roll at the Top Brink Inn.
The annual open-air swim dates back to 1961 and has been held at Lee Dam for more than 20 years.

Swimmers in each of the four categories race to be the first to the trophy which has been dropped in Lee Dam.
