TWO strands of Todmorden royalty came together to lead a parade which ended by joining the jubilee celebrations of a third!

Incredible Edible Todmorden’s Pollination Parade featured parade designs by local adults and children at a series of workshops and marked the official opening of Todmorden’s Green Route.

The parade was headed by Queen For A Day Sally Trochan, who had been styled earlier that morning by top stylist Loucas at his Stone Hair Art, Burnley Road, Todmorden, salon, and she was joined by Todmorden Carnival Queen Chloe Donnelly and her retinue, and it ended linking in to the Todmorden Tea celebrations to mark Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee!

It wound its way down Honey Hole from Todmorden Unitarian Church and along Rochdale Road, past the Town Hall where Mayor of Todmorden Coun Abid Hussain and his consort Joe Rez were among the crowds, and down Halifax Road to Bramsche Square.

Paraders wound around Bramsche Square several times to allow everyone, including those attending the Todmorden Tea, the chance to see their work in all its splendour.

At craft workshops under the auspices of Andrew Kim’s Todmorden-based Thingummyjig Theatre, who also work on Hebden Bridge’s Handmade Parade, they were busy bees indeed, creating giant models to illustrate what the new Green Route, which takes in many parts of Todmorden town centre, has to offer.

Many of the performers also gave mini-shows of music and dancing to entertain those at the tea.
