AN artist has created paintings based on the work of LS Lowry - but with a Todmorden twist.
Carolann Trustlove-Smith, of Nutfield Street, Todmorden, has produced Lowry-style paintings but with Todmorden buildings such as the town hall in the background.
Carolann, a lifelong fan of Lowry’s art, was inspired after a surprise visit to Berwick-on-Tweed organised by her partner Richard as a birthday treat.
While staying in the town, she discovered that it was home to the Lowry Trail, a collection of his paintings of Berwick.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Carolann said. “Suddenly I had all the inspiration I needed.
“I did a couple of doodles - not a patch on Lowry - then less than a week later I went into my studio at Platform One and drew and painted my first Lowry-inspired painting.”
She has gone on to paint several more.
Some of her designs have been made into cards and are on sale at Todmorden Information Centre, where she is a volunteer.
Money raised from sales of the cards will be donated to Age Concern Todmorden.
Carolann thanked Richard, art tutor Jack Jarman and everyone at Platform One Gallery for their support.
