A SPECIAL guest cut the ribbon to officially open a school’s new playground.
Mayor of Todmorden Coun Richard White did the honours at Cornholme School, which has re-vamped and improved its infant playground.
The playground has been restructured with a variety of equipment on which the young children can play at lunch and breaktimes.
This includes a climbing wall, stages and a football area.
A school spokesperson said: “All the children are enjoying playing in their new playground, which is both stimulating and adventurous.”
The work, funded by the school, is the latest stage of improvements being made at the site and follows a refurbishment of the junior playground.
Coun White cut the ribbon during a special ceremony at the school last week attended by pupils, staff and parents.
He was very impressed with the new facilities for the children.
“They are delighted with the playground,” he said.
Following the ceremony, Coun White spent some time in school visiting each class and speaking to the children, who asked him many questions about his role as the town’s Mayor.
“You never quite know what the children are going to ask,” he said.
“In the assembly I talked to them about having a hard-working life.
“You need to keep learning.”
