Books for Calder Valley Children, which has been appealing for donations of books to help schools and nurseries who lost their libraries in the flood have been busy through January.

Early in the month they contacted publishers and suppliers of children’s books and, though expecting a few hundred, have been amazed that around 3,000 brand new books, both educational and fiction, have been donated.

They have delivered boxes to Burnley Road Academy, Mytholmroyd, Riverside and Central Street Schools in Hebden Bridge, Todmorden C. of E. and St Joseph’s Primary Schools in Todmorden and Crossley Mill Nursery, Hebden Bridge.

The children’s section of flood-hit Hebden Bridge Library will be taking books too. For more information, see the group’s Facebook site.
