Tradespeople refitting the Co-op store in Hebden Bridge are setting up their own version of BBCTV’s DIY SOS to help other businesses devastated by the floods.
M3, the main contractor working on the Co-op store at 41 Market Street, which is set to re-open on Friday, March 18, is looking to organise the skilled professionals employed on the job to volunteer some of their services free of charge to other businesses in the town, some of whom were not insured. Graham Harvey, project manager at M3,said: “We understand the devastation the floods have caused to many businesses in Hebden Bridge, therefore we want to do all we can to help. M3 are looking to organise an army of volunteers who can spare some of their time from working on the Co-op to help others.”
Until the Co-op store re-opens, the 4m by 2.3m pop-up shop, which stocks around 120 of the store’s most popular grocery products, will remain open from 8am-5pm each day.
