COUNCIL leader Janet Battye has retained her Calder Ward seat in the May local elections.
Liberal Democrats candidate Coun Battye, pipped Labour’s Coun Susan Press to the post by a majority of 145 seats - finishing with 1,599 votes.
Kate Sweeney, who stood for the Green Party, finished in third place with 541 votes and the Conservative candidate Gail Lund finished fourth with 477 votes.
In one of the best turnouts in Calderdale - 44.87 per cent of the electorate went to the ballot box.
The Calder Valley ward covers Hebden Bridge and parts of Mytholmroyd and Todmorden.
