CALDERDALE Council has named Gordon Mitchell as its interim chief executive.

His appointment is subject to approval at a meeting of the council this week.

A former chief executive with Nottingham City Council and Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Mr Mitchell is an experienced interim who has worked at the highest levels of local government, Whitehall, national organisations and across a range of partnerships.

His appointment will run until a permanent chief executive takes up the post, expected to be in the autumn of this year.

Mr Mitchell said: “Calderdale MBC has a significant agenda at this time and I am looking forward to working with the council to push this forward over the next six months or so.”

His appointment follows the departure of Owen Williams, who has become chief executive of the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust after six years with the council.
