Calder ward councillor Nader Fekri has announced that he will not defend his seat when he comes up for re-election in May 2014.

Coun Fekri, a former Mayor of Calderdale and Hebden Royd, has also confirmed that he will not defend his West End ward seat on the town council either.

Coun Fekri, who controversially switched from the Liberal Democrats to Labour last year, will have served 11 years on Hebden Royd and ten on Calderdale by the time he steps aside. He said it had been an honour to represent his constituents.
