A dementia friendly cafe will run this weekend to bring together people with dementia, their carers, plus older people on their own who may be looking for company.
The cafe returns to Todmorden Town Hall on Saturday, October 10, between noon and 1.30pm. The menu includes soup and sandwiches for £2.50 or pie and peas for £3.50 and the price includes a tea or coffee. Craft lessons and greeting card classes will also be held and materials will be provided free of charge.
Todmorden Fire Station watch commander Geoff Shaw said: “Many local businesses are offering support and donations and word is starting to get around about the work we’re trying to achieve. Money raised will be put back into the community to help make Todmorden a more dementia friendly town.”
“We’ll be able to offer support and guidance to any carers and individuals. We would also welcome anyone who would like to volunteer their time once a month at the café which is generally held on the first Saturday of every month, we are always looking for helpers.” Learn more by calling 07867 916456 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
