After last year’s great success, Pennine Animal Welfare Society is hosting another ‘Dog Fun Day’ this month in aid of having some family fun and raising money for the charity.
The day will see the debut of the PAWS mascot – Big ‘Tod’ – and the PAWS Princess will be in appearance for awarding prizes.
Running from 1pm-4pm on Sunday, March 22, the event will include a variety of fun activities, charity stalls, car boot, pony rides, children’s games, homemade cakes and refreshments, and much more.
For those bringing their four-legged friends, there will be a professional dog show and classes – including ‘waggiest tail’, ‘scruffiest dog’ and ‘best fancy dress dog’. Entry is just £1.50 per class.
Grand Raffle tickets will also be going on sale on the day for the prize of a custom-made dog sofa that matches your own furniture. The winner will be announced at the Todmorden Agricultural Show in June.
The event, at Longfield Stables, Lumbutts Road, Todmorden, is being run by volunteers of PAWS, which recently became a registered charity. All proceeds from the day will go into helping rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abused and abandoned animals in the Todmorden and Hebden Bridge area.
Entrance and parking is free. For anyone wishing to hold a stall or car boot (£10), please contact Lisa on 07817000604.
PAWS is regularly holding fundraising stalls, events and coffee mornings (at Todmorden Central Methodist Church). Coming months will also see a number of other PAWS events, such as a quiz night and a night with a medium. Regular meetings are held monthly and anyone with an interest is welcome. The next is on Wednesday, April 8, at Todmorden Fire Station, Stansfield Road. See www.pennineanimalwelfaresociety.org for details.
