Elland soil used for Tod project

MORE than 800 tonnes of soil removed as part of a scheme in Elland will be used in a landscaping project in the upper Calder Valley.

Soil taken away during creation of a cycleway on the A629 at Salterhebble will be used in Todmorden for a landscaping scheme on the site of the former Rose Street health centre. Calderdale Council will work with Incredible Edible and Todmorden Pride on the scheme to tidy up the 2,000 square metre site.

Coun Barry Collins, cabinet member for economy and environment, said it is an excellent example of how to make the best use of resources: “It is a happy coincidence that the council is undertaking this work in Elland at the same time as we are set to landscape an area in Todmorden,” he said.

“This is an excellent example where joined up thinking can bring a successful outcome to two separate projects.”
