It’s the end of an era when, for one final week, arts students hold their end of year exhibitions at Todmorden Community College.
From next year fine art courses are being moved to other Calderdale College sites, so this will be the last chance for upper valley people to come and look at a show on their doorstep, said student Caroline Reed.
Accordingly, Fine Arts, B-Tec and Access level students are displaying work in the art rooms and corridors of the college, at Burnley Road, Todmorden. They are staging their show from today, June 13, to June 20, from noon to 6pm each day.
“It’s our final show, with our final work which forms part of our qualifications.
“They are going back to Halifax with the Fine Art courses. It’s very sad, and poignant for the students,” she said. “It’s your last chance to come to see us at Todmorden and see what we have done.”
Work includes sculptures, some huge paintings and mixed media works.
“We would like to express our thanks to tutor Tony O’Keefe, who finishes with us, for everything he has done for the college over the years,” said Caroline.
