MORE frequent visits by Calderdale Parking Enforcement Team have been called for to deal with an ongoing safety campaign group issue.

Members of Todmorden Accident Prevention Council have been concerned for some time over potential safety hazards caused by drivers of vehicles taking to or picking up children from Castle Hill School, Halifax Road, Todmorden.

The council says it is a long term problem with some parking thoughtless and others in contravention of parking restrictions.

One vehicle is frequently being parked in a bay reserved for the police, the meeting heard.

Police and community support officers at the meeting nloted the comments and agreed to monitor the situation and take enforcement action when possible.

Enforcement is largely the responsibility of the Calderdale team but members felt their infrequent visits were inadequate.

They felt the location should be visited almost daily and all agencies should target the problem.
