An evening of monologues written by local people and performed by local actors will be presented by the Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society on October 24 and 25.
All the monologues have been selected from the entries to the Voices of Todmorden creative writing competition which was held earlier this year.
The monologue had to be set in or make reference to Todmorden and the theme was charity as Todmorden Hippodrome is the Mayor of Todmorden’s charity this year.
There were 18 submissions in all and the judging panel remarked on the very high quality of all the entries.
The six finalists are Christian Lisseman, Hannah Morrison, Shura Price, Karen Emmott, Maddie Cullinane and Arty Cox.
The overall winner will be announced at the end of the performance on Saturday night. Tickets are £6 each and can be obtained by calling 0333 666 3366.
The monologues will be performed in the foyer of the Hippodrome Theatre, Todmorden, at 7.30pm each evening.
Meanwhile, two of the young actors from Hippodrome Youth Theatre, Jess Clarkson and Beth Sutcliffe, took part in the Steve Royle show on Radio Lancashire on October 4 and talked about being in the show Hairspray.
Jess said: “We all had a brilliant time on the radio and Steve Royle was very funny. We’re hoping lots of people will be tempted to cross the border and see Hairspray.”
