THE new academic year has seen sixth form numbers at Todmorden High School rise to their highest ever level.
Following another excellent set of A-level results announced last month, the number of students choosing to continue their education at the school has hit a record high.
Many of last year’s GCSE pupils have started AS-level courses in the sixth form this month and students from other schools have also chosen to study at Todmorden High.
Sarah Gumbley, 16, said: “The school’s success was a reason for me coming here.”
Fellow student Holly Hunter, also 16, said: “I was made to feel really welcome.”
A school spokesperson said the students have all made an excellent start.
In addition to the new sixth formers, the high school has also welcomed its new intake of Year seven pupils as they start the next chapter in their school life.
Evie Priestley, 11, said it was a bit different to primary school but she was enjoying being at the high school.
Harvey Waters, also 11, said: “It’s not as scary as we were told.”
He has enjoyed getting involved with the various extra-curricular activities offered at the school, particularly football.
