A community flood group formed in the aftermath of the devastating Calder Valley floods of 2012 will hold its first annual meeting on Saturday (February 14) with an open event for other local organisations and potential new members.
It will be held in Central Methodist Church, Todmorden, between 10 am and 1 pm. Todmorden Flood Group was set up to work for the benefit of residents and business owners in and around the town who are at risk of flooding.
“We want to encourage people to develop their own flood plans so they are more resilient when flooding occurs and we want to recruit more volunteers to our group so we can provide greater help to the community before, during and after flood events,” said Sarah-Jayne Robins, chair of TFG.
To find out more or to join, the group will also have a stall on Thursday, February 12, at Todmorden Market from about 9.30am for “a meet and greet” or alternatively you can email the group at firstname.lastname@example.org
