Remember last year when four golfers played a golf challenge for Todmorden Cancer Research UK funraising committee?

Well, they’ve finally got every last penny of fundriaising in and last month presented the committee with a total in excess of £2,000!

Richard Lupton, Clive Cook, Phill Ellis and Jon Hulmes agreed to play three rounds of golf in 24 hours.

Eeven for seasoned golfers that is quite a feat, but these men decided to go that bit further and play each round in a different country.

They began began their marathon at Old Padeswood course in Mold, North Wales at 11am; Mottram Hall in Cheshire was the next venue at around 5pm; they got to Lochmaben course in Lockerbie, Scotland, in the early hours of the morning and teed off around 3.30am , completing their challenge with three hours to spare.

The friends received great hospitality and generosity from all three golf clubs – without their support the event could not have taken place.

Rick, Clive, Phill and Jon then pestered friends and family for sponsorship which, together with gift aid and a charity matching donation of £500 from HBOS, raised the fantastic amount of £2298.50.

The Cancer Research UK, Todmorden Committee would like to thank these friends for their efforts.
