People in Calderdale are showing their support for asylum seekers and refugees by organising a fantastic fundraising gig - ‘The Fundraiser – A Musical Odyssey’ - at the Hebden Bridge Trades Club, Holme Street, on Wednesday, November 25, from 7.30pm.
Performers are giving their time for free to raise funds for the St Augustine’s Centre in Halifax, which hopes to raise £10,000 by Christmas.
The centre supports some of the most marginalised in society, including asylum seekers and refugees, helping people with whatever they need, be it employment or immigration advice, a listening ear, English classes or just a hot meal.
Calder Valley Supports Refugees are a group of local people working together to support refugees and asylum seekers in the upper Calder Valley.
Acts set to perform include Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, Armani Platnet, Kirsty Almeida and more. Tickets are £5 each and are available from the Hebden Bridge Trades Club website http://thetradesclub.com/events/11252
