House prices up by 113 per cent

HOUSE prices in Calderdale have more than doubled over the past ten years.

Between 2001 and 2011, prices rose from an average of £65,397 to £139,473 - an increase of 113 per cent.

In West Yorkshire, the average increase was 106 per cent.

Research carried out by the National Housing Federation shows that in the same period, the average salary in Calderdale increased by 16 per cent, meaning the gap between house prices and wages has risen by 84 per cent.
