The Fox and Goose Spring Bank beer festival – the first major community event since the pub went into public ownership - has been hailed as a great success.
The event – from Friday to Monday inclusive over the Bank Holiday weekend was attended by around 500 to 600 people – a great mix of supporters - including regulars, some former regulars who have returned to the pub since it went into community ownership, as well as lots of new faces and visitors.
Manager Trevor Cobb said he was delighted to welcome representatives of CAMRA groups from all over the North – not just from Calderdale itself but many other branches – some from as far afield as Wakefield, Sheffield, York and Liverpool.
Customers said they were really pleased with the great selection of beers and the way the event was organised – and the 40 barrels of festival real ales and ciders were nearly all sold out.
Trevor said: “I’d really like to say a huge thank-you to the staff and all the volunteers who helped to set everything up and also worked behind the festival bar throughout the weekend.
“It’s their commitment and hard work as well as fantastic support from the whole community, which have made our first event such a great success.”
Following on from the success of the Spring Bank event, the date of the next beer festival has been announced as November 21 to 23.
