Inspectors say care home is '˜outstanding'

Waterside Lodge, Rochdale Road, cares for up to 64 people, some with dementia, and inspectors from health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC) praised its work.

Their report said: “Staff showed consistent attention to detail that meant people received an outstanding level of care and support that was completely centred on each individual’s needs. Staff knew each person well and were very responsive in identifying any changes to people’s conditions at a very early stage in order to ensure their changing needs were addressed.

“The consistently outstanding level of care and support promoted people’s health and wellbeing and enhanced their quality of life.”

The report also said relatives were happy with the care family members receive and praised the staff for being kind and caring.

“Staff demonstrated great empathy, knowledge and understanding of end of life care and used these attributes to help people prepare for the end of their life by ensuring their individual wishes were discussed,” the report outlined.Inspectors said people felt safe in the home and said there was an “inclusive and open” culture, acting in the best interests of residents.

The care home said: “All our staff at Waterside Lodge care home are thrilled that the hard work and dedication they have given over many years has been formally recognised.

“As a family run business, it has always been our ethos to provide a home from home environment with care that you would want your own relative to receive. This “outsanding” rating has been enabled by the 30-year long term investment from the owner Philip Lord and the dedicated, highly-trained and motivated staff that strive to maintain high standards.”
