Marie Curie Cancer Care is appealing for volunteers in the local community who would like to get involved in some exciting new community projects and who have a genuine enthusiasm and desire to fundraise for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
A new Upper Calder Valley fundraising group is hoping to be launched just before Christmas and so a pre group meeting is to be held at The Crown Inn, Crown Street, Hebden Bridge on Tuesday, December 9, at 7pm to meet with anybody who is interested in finding out more about the fundraising group and what events and activities a group will be involved in.
There will also be a musical combo from Ifor Jones and Christian Braime on the night to entertain guests.
Pictured is Ifor Jones and Sarah Crowley who will be initiating the new fundraising group and who are keen to get more people on board to help with their fundraising throughout the year on an ad hoc basis.
The Upper Calder Valley Fundraising Group will support the work of the Marie Curie team of nurses who work out in the community in Hebden Bridge and the Calderdale district. The group will hopefully get involved in organising a Blooming Great Tea Party, looking after the collection tins, coordinating collections in the area as well as any other fundraising activities they enjoy. The Fundraising group may meet every 4 – 6 weeks and play a key role in making the most of all fundraising opportunities in the local area.
Leah Mitchell, local Community Fundraiser said: “We are really excited about starting a new group in Hebden Bridge as it is such a lovely village with huge potential. We hope people will come along to the meeting and find out a little bit more about the group. You don’t need any fundraising experience to join the group, just bags of enthusiasm!
“Joining a Fundraising group is a great opportunity for local people to join together and get involved in fun and rewarding fundraising activities while supporting Marie Curie. The meeting on the 9th December is a chance to chat about what being part of a fundraising group entails, and answer any questions supporters may have.”
