On Saturday members of Calder Valley CND for Peace and Justice brought their own Trident nuclear missile to Halifax to demonstrate their opposition to Government proposals to replace Britain’s ageing nuclear weapons system.
The group was joined by Councillor Jenny Lynn who helped leaflet passers-by.
The 16 foot missile was intended to spark discussion in the town on alternatives to nuclear spending. Parliament is set to vote on the next stage of the future of the British nuclear weapons delivery system in July, and campaigners hope to put further pressure on MPs to reject plans to replace the weapons system.
