Todmorden Group Practice is inviting its patients to their annual flu day on Saturday , October 11, from 9 am to 4 pm.
The practice are stressing the importance of the yearly flu vaccine, as flu can circulate for several weeks over the winter.

“The flu vaccine will provide protection for the upcoming flu season, “ she said.
“It is important to attend for the flu vaccine every year.
“The viruses that cause flu may change every year, as does the flu vaccine to ensure the best protection is given to patients.“
Certain groups are targeted for the flu vaccine.
These include everyone aged 65 years and over, pregnant women and people under 65 years with certain medical conditions, such as heart problems, a chest complaint, lowered immunity due to disease or treatment, liver and kidney disease as well as diabetes and those who have had a stroke.
These certain groups are targeted as complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia are more common in people with other diseases. Almost all deaths related to flu are in people in these groups, said the spokesperson.
