Todmorden author receives award for her latest book
Judged by children themselves, the books were marked according to editing, theme, style, book cover and illustrations.
The books feature Baby bird who is learning how to be happy with who he is rather than trying to be like everyone else.

Hide AdIn the latest book, Baby bird wants to play with the fishes and the frogs and the horses but they will not let him join in because he is the wrong colour; because he is blue. Baby bird has to decide what to do.
“A positive sense of self is one of the greatest gifts you can give a young child,” said Diane.
“Picture books provide an ideal opportunity for parents and teachers to talk to little ones about sensitive topics.”
Diane’s books have been recommended by the Mentally Heathy Schools group and volunteers have also knitted and sold Baby birds, raising over £500 for the “Young Minds,” charity.
