Thousands of football fans are set to pay tribute to a Todmorden teenager who died last Sunday.

Todmorden High School student Jack Pickles, 14, was a life-long Burnley fan.

He will be remembered by fellow Clarets during Burnley’s home match this Sunday against West Bromwich Albion when fans will hold a minute’s applause in his memory.

A Burnley Football Club spokesperson said on Twitter: “Burnley Football Club is sad to hear of the passing of young Claret Jack Pickles, aged 14. #RIPJack.”

The news of Jack’s death has also been met with sadness at Todmorden High School.

Head teacher Andrew Whitaker said: “This young man was a very popular and much loved member of our school and we are all devastated at this news.

“As a school we will ensure that our community’s full condolences are passed onto this young man’s family.”

Mr Whitaker said key school staff and Calderdale Council counsellors were on hand to support students.
