The Lions Club Canal Walk is ready to take to the towpath again on Sunday, September 22.
Starting between 8am and 9.30am at Manchester, it finishes at Shop Lock, Todmorden, and for those who do not want to do all 22 miles there are checkpoints along the way where you can start and walk shorter distances.
It is always a charity fundraiser and this year the Christie charity mobile chemotherapy units will benefit.
Walkers need to find their own transport to starting/checkpoints (including Morrison’s, Chadderton, 9am to 11am; Hopwood Arms, Slattock, 10am to noon; Wellfield, Oldham Road, Rochdale, 11am to 1pm; Waterside Inn, Littleborough, noon to 3.30pm; and Summit Lock 37 behind the Summit Inn, Littleborough, 3pm to 4.30pm).
The exception is transport provided from Todmorden Bus Station to Manchester at 7.30am, making one stop at the Wheatsheaf, Littleborough.
Advance entries are £5 per person (£15 rate for family of two adults and two children), or £6 per person on the day. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. For more details on the event call 01706 523789 and forms are available on Littleborough Lions website www.littleboroughlions.org.uk.
