GENEROUS donations from the people of Todmorden and Hebden Bridge helped to raise a record amount of money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
The Todmorden branch of the RNLI held its annual Flag Day in the upper Calder Valley and collected a total of £1,770, a record amount for the branch.
Chairwoman Pam Birkett was delighted by the response of Todmorden and Hebden Bridge residents.
“In recent years they have steadily increased their giving despite challenging financial times for everyone.
“The level of support for the RNLI in the upper Calder Valley has always been high and we are delighted that this year has yet again been better than ever before,” she said.
The total amount raised by branch collections this year is now approaching £2,500.
