WORK is continuing in an attempt to solve a sewage leak affecting several residents.
As reported in last week’s Todmorden News, Arty Cox and his neighbours on Pexwood Place, Todmorden, are having to deal with sewage running through the gardens behind their homes and are concerned about the potential health risks.
On Friday, Yorkshire Water relined a section of sewer in the area which it hopes will resolve the issue.
A spokesman for Yorkshire Water said: “Last Friday we successfully completed the relining of a further 35 metres of sewer in the area which hopefully will go a long way to resolving the issues we have seen over the last few weeks.
“We will know for sure if it has been successful over the course of the next few weeks once the local water table has subsided and obviously we will be monitoring and assessing the situation throughout that period.
“We would also like to say thank you again to local residents and road users for all the support and patience they have shown and we assure them that we are determined to work with them to resolve this issue.”
