Scout Post team all set to handle your Christmas cards

Todmorden residents can once again take advantage of the Scout Post to deliver Christmas cards to family and friends around town this year.

For over 30 years the 8th/26th Calder Valley Scouts have been running a Christmas Card delivery service to Todmorden addresses.

For 25p per Scout Post stamp (half the price of a second class stamp), volunteers will collect your cards from special drop off points around the Todmorden area, sort into rounds and deliver cards to your friends, families and loved ones in Todmorden.

All money raised goes towards maintaining the Scout Minibus which provides vital transport for Scouts and other community groups in Todmorden.

Scouts can only deliver to Todmorden addresses and remember – Scout Post stamps can’t be used in Royal Mail postboxes!

This year the Scout Post Service runs from tomorrow, Friday, November 29, to Friday, December 20, with all cards delivered before Christmas Day.

You can buy Scout Post stamps and drop off your cards at a number of venues around town. They are:

The Corner Shop, Portsmouth; Walsden Village News; Walsden Library; Hartley’s General Store; Abdul’s Newsagents, Halifax Road; Eric Wrathall’s Shoe Repairs in Bramsche Square; the Crumbly Cheese Stall at Todmorden Indoor Market; Todmorden News Centre (formerly Cryers); Central Hair Design, Water Street; and Yew Tree Court, Walsden.

The Scout Post Service is a Government-approved scheme allowing charities to deliver only Christmas cards in the month leading up to Christmas. It is not a Next Day delivery service, but all Christmas cards will be delivered before December 25.

The team of collectors, sorters and deliverers are ready - all you need to do is get writing those cards!
