Mr Thomas to trying to locate fellow Apprentice Peter Reid, from Todmorden, for the reunion, which has been organised in association with Forces Reunited.

Mr Thomas said: “The reunion is to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of joining up and all the 221 Entry Craft Apprentices and their wives and partners are most welcome to attend the event.

“So far there are over 30 ex-Apprentices attending, travelling from all over the UK and we are hoping to find even more of our former colleagues.

“It has been many years since we last saw one another so this reunion will give us a welcome opportunity to catch up.

“My two years there were an important part of my life and I am very much looking forward to reminiscing with old friends.”
