A Todmorden playgroup is about to celebrate its 40th anniversary with a move to a new home.
Centre Vale Park Playgroup is the longest running playgroup in Todmorden and has been based at the Recreation Room near the bowling greens at the park for the last four decades.
Generations of Todmorden mothers, babies and toddlers have enjoyed playing and growing together.
But the recreation hut is now in a poor state of repair and Calderdale Council plan to demolish it, as previously reported in the Todmorden News.
So the playgroup will be on the move - but there will be no trouble finding it as their new base can be seen from the old one - the Fielden Centre on Ewood Lane, right next to the park!
Caroline Chapman on behalf of the playgroup, said: “We are moving to the Fielden Centre.
“The advantage is that we still have access to Centre Vale Park which has always been a huge asset to the playgroup.
“To mark the group’s relaunch at its new location, the Fielden Centre has kindly given us use of the Hall on Tuesday, December 16, to hold our Christmas Party there from 9.30am to 11.30am.
“There will be Christmas fun, games and party food, a Christmas Magic and Mayhem Show courtesy of Magic Morris and a special visit by Father Christmas.
“We will then reopen after the New Year on Monday, January 5, at the Fielden Centre, and we will be there every Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am.
“For the first three weeks we will also be joined by Magic Morris again who will be showcasing his new show for pre-school children called ‘Humpty’s Half Hour’,” he said.
Caroline said that new faces are always welcome.
“Come along to the Christmas party and see the new facilities on offer, or join us in January,” she said.
