A business is hoping to make a difference to a local scout group after choosing to support it as its charity partner for 2013.
Following an appeal to the community to nominate local causes, employees at the Original Factory Shop, on Halifax Road, Todmorden, are gearing up to support the 20th Todmorden Scouts throughout the year.
Colleagues at the shop are planning a programme of fundraising activities, with the aim of reaching a minimum of £500.
Store manager Yvonne Corcoran said: “We received a fantastic response to our ‘Make A Difference’ appeal.
“We’re very excited about raising money for the 20th Todmorden Scouts this year and we’ll be meeting with them now to make sure we take advantage of every opportunity to support them.
“I’m sure our caring customers will be right behind us and help us raise much-needed funds for our ‘Make A Difference’ partner.”
Tammy Frankland, assistant leader of the 20th Todmorden Scouts, said the link-up would help with the group’s efforts to raise funds to visit the Scouting headquarters at Gilwell Park, London.
She said the fundraising programme would begin with a book swap at the Original Factory Shop in the coming weeks.
The scout group is asking for people to donate books for the event, dropping them off at the shop.
A range of seasonal activities are also being planned for the Easter holidays, including a “Name the bunny” competition and an egg hunt.
It is also hoped to hold a car washing event at the shop in April, dubbed “Shop while we wash”.
