Staff fuel funds for charity

Members of the Craggs Energy team laced up their walking boots and took to the hills above Calderdale to raise money for two local charities.

The group of 13 staff raised £2,665 with the funds being split equally between Watermark Fund Calderdale and The Christie Charity.

After a couple of un-anticipated injuries along the way, 11 members of the team managed to cross the finish line at The Hinchliffe Arms, just 23 hours after beginning the walk from the fuel company’s head office in Cragg Vale.

They were joined by other members of the team at Craggs Energy who walked shorter distances and offered support.

Craggs Energy CEO, Chris Bingham, said: “Walking through the night is always tough and requires both a good level of physical endurance and mental strength – this is even more important when you get through the night, dawn breaks and you still have another 30 miles to go!

“I’d like to thank everyone who made a donation, it really did spur us all on to complete the walk.

Watermark Calderdale is a not-for-profit campaign which aims to build a flood resilience fund accessible to households and business in Calderdale.
