Stall in aid of Japan tsunami relief effort

A SPECIAL stall will run at Todmorden Market on Saturday in aid of people affected by the Japanese tsunami.

Organisers are appealing for items - especially plants, clothing and baked goods – to sell on the stall which will be open from 9am until 3.30pm, and volunteers to help out on the day.

Belle Riley, one of the organisers, said: “It’s a desperate situation. We want to get help to them as soon as possible and we felt this was the best way to go about it.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported our efforts in the past and hope they will continue to support us in the future.”

Proceeds will be administered in the disaster zone by Save The Children.

Anybody who would like to help is asked to contact Belle Riley on 01706 810868 for more information.

Any items left over from the event will be held over for a forthcoming event at the market on April 10 in aid of Operation Smile United Kingdom.
