Two steamy new calendars featuring firefighters from stations across Calderdale are going on sale to raise money for charity.
This year female firefighters have stripped off for Yorkshire’s first ever all-women charity calendar, known as Red Hot Sirens, and the Red Hot Dates is returning for a fifth year.
The all-men calendar will raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Laila Milly Foundation and Prostate Cancer. The women’s calendar will raise cash for the first three, and breast cancer charities.
Among those posing are Amanda May and Steve Donoghue from Mytholmroyd fire station, Dan Lord from Halifax fire station and Rob Kellock and Red Watch from Illingworth fire station as well as the Crossley Ladies football team.
Dom Furby, Station Commander for Illingworth, Todmorden and Mytholmroyd, came up with the idea for the calendars.
“This is the first Red Hot Sirens calendar and we wanted to bring together different agencies such as Slimming World and Crossley Ladies football team to raise money for worthwhile charities.
“The ladies calendar is just as good as the men’s one and both are excellent quality.
“The whole thing has been put together by Mark Bolton who is an ex-firefighter and has done a photography degree. He has given up a lot of his time to put this together for us.
“The men’s calendar last year raised £28,000 as well as selling all over the world and we are hoping to match that, if not raise more.
“When I look back at the first one we did in 2004 I can see a big difference but there is a lot of interest in them.”
Calendars are available at local fire stations or online at www.redhotdates.org.uk.
