CROWDS lined the banks of the River Calder to cheer hundreds of ducks in their annual race along the water.
Some rare warm weather greeted the annual Todmorden Lions Duck Race on Sunday afternoon and helped to attract a bumper audience. Michael Clarkson, president of Todmorden Lions Club, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day.
“The sun shone and there were lots of people following the ducks down the river.”
CN Trading, based on Halifax Road, Todmorden, provided a dumper truck to lower the plastic yellow ducks into the river at the Stansfield Road bridge. They then made their way through town to the finish line by Hallroyd flats.
More than £1,200 was raised and the money will go to Lions charities. “To say we are in the climate we are in, the amount of money we made was great,” Michael said.
“It was unbelievable the support we had.”
He thanked all those who supported the event.
“We will try to make it bigger and better next year,” he said.
