The Acapulco, on Waterhouse Street, which has been dubbed as 'the oldest night club in the UK', will temporarily remain closed until further notice after shutting its doors for the first in its 59-year history back in March.

A spokesman from the venue said the decision to remain closed is due to health and safety concerns amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"However, once we have a reopening date this will be on our social media, website and in local press

"We know how much everyone is looking forward to our re-open and how much 'The Aca' means to many people of Halifax and surrounding areas.

"This is the only time The Acapulco has been closed in its 59-year history.

"Once it is safe to do so, our doors will be back open and we will be entertaining people like we have done for the past 59 years.

"We're looking forward to giving the best of entertainment and value for money once again, very soon."
