SAFETY campaigners are unimpressed with proposed changes to the layout at Eastwood refuse transfer station, Halifax Road, Todmorden.
A draft plan for changes had been made available to members of Todmorden Accident Prevention Council and at the council’s February meeting they discussed the matter further.
Members said they felt the site was in the wrong location and should be moved altogether to a larger area where a better planned site could be provided.
They felt changes proposed to the exisiting site would do little for road safety at a location where the speed limit was 40mph and motorists often exceeded same.
Calderdale Council says the changes aim to make the site easier and safer to use while boosting recycling levels and having a reduced impact on neighbours.
