Unpaid fine visit led to arrests over cannabis

THREE people have been arrested in relation to drugs offences in Todmorden.

Two of the men were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of cannabis after local police attended an address on Priory View to arrest a man who had failed to pay court fines imposed for a burglary offence.

Officers from the Upper Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) seized two suspected cannabis plants, as well as suspected seedlings, when they attended the address in the early hours of Saturday.

Police arrested a third man a short time later on suspicion of being concerned in the production of cannabis.

All three men, aged 35, 31 and 19, were released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Sgt Michael Bowden, of the Upper Valley NPT, said: “We are working closely with our colleagues in HM Court Enforcement and would like to warn anyone who owes money to the court that they must pay or expect a visit at any time of the day or night by NPT officers.”
