IF you are studying in an area which is linked to agriculture, you may be eligible for some financial help towards the costs.
The Todmorden Agricultural Society Educational Fund has been set up to provide financial support for any form of education or training where the applicant can demonstrate a connection with agriculture in all its trades, crafts or professions, said secretary, Rob Goldthorpe.
There is no age limit imposed on applicants. The fund is aimed at people who live in Todmorden and the surrounding towns and villages such as Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Littleborough, Cliviger, Bacup and Waterfoot.
Helping at the show will be an advantage. By helping, the committee had in mind stewarding on the day, helping in the setting up or dismantling of the show or something similar, said Rob.
Financial assistance for outfits, clothing, tools, instruments, books or travel will be considered. Students wishing to apply should write to the secretary stating what the grant will be used for.
“We do not have an application form, so can you please explain what course you are attending, what you intend to use the grant for and explain what connection you have with the show,” said Rob.
The deadline for applications this year is the end of January. To apply write to the secretary, Rob Goldthorpe, at 14 Honey Hole Close, Todmorden, OL14 6LH. Telephone 01706 815648 for more details or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
