TODMORDEN High School’s headteacher has expressed her disappointment at missing out on Government funding for new buildings.
Calderdale Council submitted a bid to the Priority School Building Programme for money to re-build Todmorden High and two other schools, but it has been unsuccessful.
Headteacher Helen Plaice said: “We are a rapidly improving school whose students and staff work extremely hard to raise standards despite the condition of our building.
“I have been offered continued moral and financial support from the local authority, for which we are extremely grateful, and I shall be meeting with Stuart Smith, the director of children and young people’s services for Calderdale, over the next few weeks to discuss our next steps.
“In the meantime, we will continue our hard work to ensure our students thrive and are safe on our school site.”
