Winter visits to nearby city’s iconic places

THIRTY seven members of U3A Todmorden Let’s Go group recently braved the Manchester cold for a visit to the world famous Chetham’s School of Music.

They were treated to concert standard performances of oboe and cello concertos by the school’s pupils. A guided tour of the school followed and a visit to the “chained library”.

In January 23 members had a blue badged guided tour of three iconic Manchester buildings: the town hall, the John Ryland Library and Manchester Cathedral.

In March members will visit to Calderdale Magistrates’ Court, Halifax, and April will see the start of the programme of day coach trips to various venues, commencing with a visit to Hoghton Hall near Preston. It will open especially for the group and their driver will be Steve Boulton, formerly of B & S Coaches.
